Successful BBQ for UAFD!

May 5, 2012 Upper Allen Fire Department held its first BBQ of the season. It was a very successful BBQ as we had SOLD out around 1pm and had people waiting for the chicken to come off the racks. We will have 3 more BBQ coming this summer and reminder that our next BBQ will be held at our station. The date for this BBQ is June 23, 2012!

Truck 23 pays a visit to May Fair!!

May 5, 2012 Truck 23 was asked to be part of South Mountain Elementary School for their “May Fair”. The crew of (4) set the truck up and let the kids walk around and look peek of TRUCK 23. We would like to “THANK” the departments that invited us.

Vehicle Fire in the “4″ box….

May 5, 2012 UAFD was called to the 400 block of Kent Dr for a reported vehicle fire. Chief 23 arrived and advised headquarters that fire was out because PD extinguished with dry chem. Engine 123 arrived on scene and used a foam pw to put out hot spots. UAFD was on scene for about 15 minutes.

UAFD Assist Carlisle with 4 Alarm Building Fire

RIT23 (E123) and Truck 23 were dispatched as part of the 2nd alarm assignment. E123′s original assignment was RIT on Fairground Ave and Truck 23 also to report to Fairground Ave to go into service. Upon arrival E123 was reassigned to reverse lay 5″ back to a hydrant due to all fire ground operations going to a defensive mode. E123 supplied Truck 23 and two TFT blitzfires for approximately an hour before several explosions and then Truck 23 and several other companies had to back out. After the all clear was given Truck 23 and Truck 12 (Lower Allen Fire) proceeded back up to the scene. E123 supplied Truck 12 and Engine 38 (Carlisle Barracks Fire Co.) supplied Truck 23 for several hours. UAFD crews worked on scene for approximately 8 hours. Thanks to Dauphin Truck 456 (Chambers Hill Fire Co.) and York County Engine 68 (Fairview Twp. Fire) for standing by at the station.

Cutting and Tearing night for UAFD!!!

May 1, 2012 UAFD held weekly training and this week topic was vehicle rescue. The night was scheduled to be a “What’s new with Halmatro” but had to be canceled due to a conflict with manufacture rep. Since we had some vehicle on hard members of UAFD got a chance to work with some of the rescue tools and cut & tear. Members took turns using all the equipment off Engine 123.

UAFD helps with send off of WWII Vets

April 29, 2012 Upper Allen Fire Department helped with a special send off of WWII vets to the memorial in Washington D.C. Truck 23 and Engine 223 assisted with send off. Truck 23 displayed the American Flag while Engine 223 escorted the buses onto Rt.15. from the Mechanicsburg Middle School.

It was very nice for Upper Allen Fire Department to be part of this special day.

Training on the TRUCK!!!

April 24, 2012 Members took some time on Tuesday night training to work on climbing the ladder truck for training. Newer members took the truck beside the fire house and put the truck up full extension. Firefighters took turns climbing the truck for training.
