<p>September 9, 2010 UAFD was called out to 513 Miller Ave. in the township for a reported smoke for a building.  Chief 23 arrived to find fire coming from side “C” &amp; “D” of the home. After talking to the owner of the property he advised that the tenant was not home. Crews from company’s 23,28,27,25,30,12,33,YC64 &amp; West Shore EMS  all assisted with fire ground operations. Units had control of the fire in about 25 min and no injuries were reported.  UAFD would like to ‘Thank” all mutual aid departments that assisted. Both families are being helped by the Red Cross.</p>

Crews worked on making sure they have an understanding of the operation and make sure when ready for storage they would be ready to go.     After the pumps review it was time for new members to show all what they have learned for knowledge of equipment. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>August 23, 2010 Members of the department traveled to Pierce Manufacturing to take a tour and start to get ideas for Engine 123 that is due for replacement in 2011/2012. Chief J. Salter, Deputy Chief T. Shumberger, Firefighter K. Kunkel and Firefighter J. Kremer all made the trip out to Appleton, Wisconsin as a guest of Glick Fire Equipment (Cyle Shafer) and looked at several different rescue pumpers.  It was a very useful trip and the committee is on a GREAT start for the New Engine 123…</p>

<p>August 21, 2010 UAFD was called to the Mill Rd in the area of Messiah College for a reported train car fire.  Chief 23 arrived on scene to find no train in the area.  A call back to Norfolk Southern found that the train was reroute that direction and had a small fire which employees did try to extinguish with small extinguishers.  Engine 223 arrived and used a small handline to put out some hot spots.  Tanker 23 were also there to assist but was not needed. Crews worked on scene for about 20 min.</p>
