October 31, 2008: Firefighters went out into the community last night to hand out candy and other goodies during the township’s annual trick or treat night. Thanks to all the residents who took the time to say hello.

October 31, 2008: After finishing up trick or treat night in the township, the department rescued a kitten that had fallen into a PVC pipe. We were supported on scene by employees of Stauffers of Kissel Hill. After extrication, the kitten appeared none the worse for the wear. It will be available for adoption soon!

October 29, 2008: At approximately 11:30 yesterday morning, crews from UAFD and neighboring departments were sent to the Sunguild housing complex for smoke in a structure. 911 dispatchers advised a neighbor saw smoke and heard detectors sounding from one of the units. October 29, 2008: Last evening, training at the newly acquired structure continued. The department practiced rapid intervention team evolutions. Numerous, escalating scenarios were given to firefighters, who used multiple techniques to extricate a simulated downed firefighter.
