National Night Out for 2014! UAFD will be out in the township!

            Mechanicsburg, PA (August 5, 2014) – The 31st Annual National Night Out (NNO), a unique anti-crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

This year’s local theme is: “Looking Out for Each Other.”

            The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from more than 15,000 communities and all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide. In all, more than 37 million people are expected to participate in America’s Night Out Against Crime

            “This is a time for our citizens to come together to promote awareness, safety and unity, so that our neighborhoods can be safer, especially for our kids,” said Jim Salter, Fire Chief of UAFD.

 National Night Out is designed to:
* Heighten crime prevention awareness;
* Generate support for, and participation in, local safety programs;
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and fire department/police department -community partnerships; and
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

            Events start as early as 6:30 PM and run as late as 8:00 PM as Fire Trucks will be driving around neighborhoods around the township.
