Upper Allen Twp. Fire Company To Host Specialized Training Program

The Upper Allen Township Volunteer Fire Company will host a one day training program on September 27, 2014.

“:Building Construction: Characteristics, Operational Strategies, Tactics and Considerations”.

This program will introduce students to features and firefighting operations in the five types of building construction.  It will consist of classroom sessions focusing on building construction, fire behavior considerations, and firefighting strategies and tactics specific to each type of building class. Presentation and critique of previous fires in each type of building classification and of local area construction is presented in order to discuss real issues involving these structures.

The lead instructor for the program is Battalion Chief William Hines, (ret.), Fire Department City of New York.  He is a retired Battalion Chief of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).   His FDNY career spanned over 27 years where he worked in some of the most demanding areas in New York City.  As a Captain, he chaired a committee that researched and created an SOP for operations in buildings of light weight construction.  His assignment as a Chief brought him to Manhattan to supervise operations in one of the most high profile areas of the city.  He is recognized nationally as an expert in building construction as it related to fire department operations.

The class locations  is  at the Upper Allen Twp. Fire Company 104 Gettysburg Pike in   Mechanicsburg, PA .  The program will start at 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Class size is limited.The cost of the program is $95 per student.  Pre-registration is required for the program by September 19, 2014.
