UAFD was part of the 249 PA Weekend at the National Fire Academy. 33 Counties sent members with Cumberland County sending 26 total firefighters to PA Weekend which was 2nd behind Alleghany County. UAFD had the honor of sending 8 officers and firefighters which was #1 for Cumberland County. The weekend was lots of fun and enjoyable learning at the NFA. Also UAFD did get a chance to network with other departments from around the state.
On Saturday night the memorial services began in the Historic auditorium in Building E and concluded with the laying of a wreath at the National Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial.
The Tulleytown Honor Guard joined by other uniformed Fire Department members and Highlanders Pipe Band led the procession in and out of the auditorium to the national memorial.
Bruce Trego, PSFA Assistant Administrator conducted the Memorial Program while Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser delivered a reflection and the PA State Fire Comm. Ed Mann read the names of the Pennsylvania’s Fallen Fire Fighters.
