One Into a Tree

June 9, 2007: Around 0217 hours the UAFD was dispatched for an auto accident in the area of West Lisburn Road and Gettysburg Pike. UAPD found the incident and corrected the location to the intersection of Gettysburg Pike and Herman Drive with one patient entrapped. Chief 23 (Kunkel) arrived on scene to find one vehicle into a tree with the driver pinned. Engine 123 (Salter) was advised to stabilize the vehicle and begin extrication operations upon their arrival. As the crew from the Engine began the extrication, EMS determined the victim to be Class four and all operations were terminated and the scene left intact for the police. The Engine remained on scene to provide lighting, and assist with patient extrication upon the completion of the investigation, before returning to service around 0412 hours.
