July 24, 2007: After several years of testing, the new Cumberland County 800 Mhz radio system became operational. Around 10:00 hours the County Communications Center transitioned from the old low band system over to the new state wide 800 Mhz system. The Cumberland County Commissioners and County Communication Center held a press conference at Station 23 to complete the transition and show the new system off to the media. A demonstration of the capabilities of the system was demonstrated by representatives from the UAFD, the UAPD, and West Shore EMS. Members are encouraged to continue to familiarize themselves with the operations of the new system and its capabilities.
