December 9, 2008: Around 1200 hours the engine was dispatched for a reported house fire in Mechanicsburg Borough, in the area of West Allen and Frederick St. As engine 223 went responding, reports were given that the police department was on scene with a well involved house. Upon arriving on scene right behind first due units, engine 223 was ordered to beach the rig and assist with operations. Right after the engine arrived on scene, truck 23 was added to the incident in place of non-responding units. Between the two rigs, crews performed searches, placed numerous ground ladders, assisted with ventilation, and secured utilities. The truck cleared the scene about an hour into the incident and the engine cleared in about two hours.
