Monty K. Kreiger: 1953 – 2009

March 19, 2009: The Upper Allen Fire Department mourns the loss of one of its members. Monty Kreiger died today after a brief illness. He was 55 years old. Monty joined UAFD in September of 1989. During his career with the Upper Allen Fire Department he was a firefighter, first responder, served on the Board of Trustees from 1994 – 2007, and held positions on several committees. He is survived by his mother Peggy Miller, a son Michael K., a daughter Rachael Leighow, and his paternal grandmother Esther Kreiger.

There will be a viewing on Saturday March 21, 2009 from 1:00 until 3:00 at the West Shore Evangelical Free Church, 1345 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg. Immediately following, there will be service celebrating Monty’s life. Upon the completion of the service, everyone is invited to return to the Upper Allen Fire Department at 104 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg for a reception. All emergency services apparatus shall stage in the lower parking lot of the church. Monty was dedicated to his community and family. He continued that dedication to life and gave the most precious gift by being an organ and tissue donor. In doing so, he may directly save or enhance the lives of between 50 and 75 people.
