Rider Qualifications

On Saturday, January 6, before and during the beginning of the snowfall, members participated in a “drill day” to do their rider qualifications. This is completed annually by all active firefighters in order to ensure they can perform a list of tasks required of them to be a firefighter.

Thank you so much to our Support Force for cooking us a delicious breakfast, and a grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch to warm up with after being outside in the cold. Also thanks to Joanne for always capturing such great photos.

Busy weekend for UAFD!

This weekend was extremely busy for our volunteers!

Friday evening, UAFD attended Upper Allen Township’s Fall Festival at Winding Hills North Park. This was a well attended event and the kids loved being able to go through the rigs.

Saturday morning, we attended PaulB Hardware’s Community Day, where we had apparatus displayed and also did a live vehicle extrication demonstration. We also helped out with the landing zone for the Wellspan air medical helicopter.

Saturday afternoon, the Engine crew went to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for their Oktoberfest.

After attending all of these events, UAFD responded to 6 calls for service from Saturday afternoon through the overnight hours, one of which was a fully involved car fire on E. Winding Hill Rd.

Garage fire on Wakefield Ave

Last evening around 6:40pm, UAFD and surrounding mutual aid departments were dispatched for a reported garage fire on Wakefield Ave in Upper Allen Twp. The fire was contained to just the garage, with smoke and water damage to parts of the living areas of the house. Control of the fire was marked at 7:28pm and units went available from the scene at 9:21pm.

As always, UAFD would like to thank all departments, fire police and EMS for their assistance and transfer companies who were filling in for all the departments on scene. UAFD had Engine 17 from East Penn standing by for us. Shout out to Mission BBQ for bringing sandwiches to the scene.
