June 2, 2009: Just before 2300 hours the Engine Company was dispatched for smoke from a building in Lower Allen Township. Engine 223 responded shortly after dispatch and arrived on scene just behind the first arriving engine. Crews initially encountered smoke showing from a first floor window and proceeded to force entry into the unoccupied residence. The crew from the engine assisted the first arriving engine with stretching their hand line, and searching for the source of the smoke. The origin was traced to a faulty outlet that began to extend into the exterior wall. Crews were able to open up the wall and extinguish the fire with a minimal amount of damage to the home. The engine returned to service after operating for about an hour.
